I'm posting for Kara whose blog page won't let her publish because of a gadget.  "East Birdeye is hosting a ride Memorial Day at 10 am with burgers afterward.  The route will be 25-30 miles or shorter if you choose.  Let Kara know if you're rolling out".

I'm glad Birdeye is continuing the Memorial Day bike ride tradition.  We'll need to be on the lookout for the Gearhead group who come to Birdeye every Memorial Day, they leave at 7 am (I think) and are here around about 9:30 ish.  I know last year I spotted Ted Herget on a hybrid near Cherry Valley, I nearly died (that was what 35 miles one way to Cherry Valley from Jonesboro...:))  He also won the Midsouth Championship Marathon this past November.

See ya'll Monday! -Keeli

This is East and West Birdeye in 2011

Happy Birthday CHLOE!  That lady is 12 today!  Wow, time flies.

HEADS UP: KARA AND I canceled Friday's cookout and decided a Saturday 9 am bike ride in Wynne at Becca and Neall's would be more casual.  Bike to work was also canceled because of the rain.  If you're planning to attend, let us know so we can sign you up to bring something for the cookout!  -Keeli

In celebration of Bike to Work Day, East and West Birdeye will depart the 4 way at 6:45 am taking the Vanndale Hill first, then over to Hwy 1 on Friday morning.  We'll have our bright gear on and I'll have my orange flag out and ready.  Motorists, take it slow this one day of the year and watch out for fellow cyclists across the county, state and everywhere.  One thing we've noticed on recent bike rides is a lack of motorists slowing at all as they approach a cyclist.  It won't slow a motorist more than a few mere seconds to use caution when approaching a cyclist and it could save a life.  So slow it down anyway but especially Friday, May 17.  And quit that honking and rude gesturing.  Come on people, just sayin...:)

Via Kara's FABULOUS idea, we will be cooking out at the law office that night at 5:30.   The address is Shaver and Smith, 210 E. Merriman, Wynne.  She and I will have hamburgers (I'll make veggie ones) and other food to celebrate the Bike to Work Worldwide Celebration in Wynne. Cousin John Dalton sent me this link to what New Yorkers are doing on May 17 and we're following suit: http://bikenyc.org/biketowork

Everyone is welcome to come ride your bike to downtown and join our post ride festivities that afternoon.  East and West Birdeye will have our car parked there since it'll be after dark when we leave for home. We plan to cookout in rain or shine, just FYI!   We're all pitching in for the cookout, so let us know if you're coming and we'll sign you up to bring something in your backpack.

See you there! :)
