Mountain Bike Ride Saturday the 10th at Village Creek

Hello from Village Creek.

I will be leading a mountain bike ride on Saturday Nov. 10th at 3:30 p.m. We will meet at the Visitor Center Parking lot and will ride for an hour or two depending on what the group wants.

Also in case any of the roadies out there are wanting to try mountain biking, but do not have a bike we now have three brand new Specialized Hardrock rental bikes.

This is the small. Perfect for the teen who is ready for a little adventure, or short adult!

This is the large. It has some purple highlights to it, which of course is the color of royalty.

This is the XL don't let it's size fool you, this thing will fly down the trail.

I have personally tested all three of these bikes and they are going to be a blast on the trail. So now you have no excuse to miss tomorrows ride. See you there.

Gearhead Cyclocross Race Results, Village Creek

This is the A race which was after the B.  B was first because
it is shorter than the A.  I think A's are your fastest group.
I think that's the winner of the A and close behind is Daniel
Shaffer who is the Start2Finish guru in Memphis.
Start2Finish always does a wonderful race, they know
what they are doing and are wonderful to work with!

The A group start line...they raced the same course for 45
minutes plus a lap which I think at their speed was 12 laps,
it was tough I tell ya!  See winners below!
Here's Jackie on the dismount....B group

Oops here's me....I kinda like not having any photos on here!

As novice's, Kara and I held a conversation most of the race,
I kid you not then I had to remount and get over the dirt
pile because I was in the wrong gear....Kara was #1!

Stan and Martin

The B race starting line was held up by whomever
but East Birdeye (that would be Kara and Whit)...
the race official kept asking where number 114 and
115 was...hahaha..
The B group raced for 35 minutes plus a lap...I think
we did 6 laps but I wasn't sure because when they rang
the bell that I had another lap, I wasn't sure I could do it....

Whit was the only junior and got a fancy, red cowbell..
this is the 4 ft, pile of dirt we all had to git over...it was TOUGH!

WOW the BBC's first cyclocross was a ton of fun!  Gearhead and Jason did a great job of organizing it and there was quite a turnout.  Most all were professional racers who already had a cycling membership.  The BBC had 7 novices entered and Michael Hirons was the first in the male division, Kara first in the women and Whit the one and only junior.  Let's not forget Kyle who was 4th in cat 4/5.  Yay BBC!

I love cyclocross.  I am considering going up to Craighead Forrest Park Nov. 18 for another one put on by Gearhead.  It's quite a challenge and even though I was the slowest one out there I think I had the best time.  Keeli

Trail Ride this Saturday

Friday, November 2, 2012

I will be leading a trail ride at the park on Saturday, at 12 p.m. everyone is invited. It will be an easy ride, I don’t want to wear anyone out for the race the next day. After the ride Gearhead will be here around 2 p.m. to start setting up the CX course and has asked for some volunteers to help with that project. What better way to learn the course then to help build it!

Thank you,
