A huge thank you to Memaw (Jeanie) for coming to get Chloe at 6 am last Friday to help the four of us participate in World Cycle to Work Day.  She took the kiddos to school and the rest of us left a car in town because I lectured the boys about the amount of cars on 64B and the bay road at 5 pm.  I am always worried about distracted drivers at 5 pm.  So we left Birdeye at 6:15 and got to that Killough/Union intersection about 7:00.  I went on to the vet clinic and got there about 7:20, the others went to Colby's for breakfast then on to work.  It was a great ride, a few dogs but no chasers, thank goodness.  Martin and Kara almost got backed over by a minivan who wasn't watching, but other than that it was a fun ride.  Highway 64B was getting busy from 284 on in so we were glad to get off that road since it was a school day.  Let's all do it next year, I can't wait!  Keeli

The Birdeye crew is tweaking coordinating getting the four bambinos to school and participating in the World Cycle to Work Day.  Lots of cities across the country have made Friday, May 20, 2011, the day set aside to ride your bike to work.  We are planning on it and taking Highway 42 to Cherry Valley and Highway 1 on into Wynne.  I'm excited and I hope it doesn't rain!  Here's a link to San Diego's Bike to Work site:  http://www.icommutesd.com/Events/BikeToWorkDay.aspx.

Rockabilly Ride on the Ridge

How about a MTB ride in the St. Francis National Forest on the scenic limestone ridge road and then check out the rockabilly music festival in downtown Helena. This happens on Sat. May 21, the ride will be mostly in the shade and the road is lightly traveled and not very hard with just a few climbs, we can change out of the bike gear at the State park campgrounds. Give me some feedback if someone is interested.
