Mountain Bike Rides at Village Creek SP

I am going to start the weekly mountain bike rides at Village Creek State Park again this month. Every Saturday at 3 p.m. with the exception of the 23rd. I will be doing that ride on the Friday before, the 22nd. We will meet at the visitor center and head out from there.

As always this is a relaxed ride and we will go for as long as the group wants. So all ages and levels are invited to join in the fun.

Lesson learned at Village Creek

Kara pointed out that the new trail signs looked great...
Adam said they used a covering like Shellac (I think) and
they looked great and the full 8 mile loop was well marked

Gotta group shot...Jackie studying the map...lol

3 miles from the visitor's center, Lisa had a flat.  Not just
a flat, a locust thorn flat that somehow poked multiple holes
through the tube we found out later.  Adam had a patch kit and
a tube, but it didn't fit her 29 inch tire.  So they patched it but
down one hill it was flat again.

A close look at the thorn

We were thankful that one of these horses that passed us didn't
get a thorn...that would HURT for sure!  These riders were
mighty chatty!

We had our first flat tire at Village Creek yesterday...overall we rode bikes for 8 miles, started 20 minutes late cause of a family member...you know who you are...then Lisa had a flat...and we realized that 9 of us weren't prepared.  Luckily Adam had a patch kit and went to town but when it failed, Kyle and Adam came up with an EXCELLENT idea and filled the tire with leaves so Chuck could ride Lisa's bike back.  Great idea guys!  Now we know to first, have a tube packed.  (We didn't have anything packed and I had even commented earlier while loading the bikes that since I was riding Chloe's new beauty of a bike, she didn't have a MTB flat kit and I do believe Jackie said, and I quote, "we never have mountain bike ride flats".)  Thanks Jackie for making one of my worries come true.  Just kidding but really it was 4:15 p.m. when the second flat happened, it was getting dark and cold.  So let's all get a MTB flat kit ready...just sayin! :)

Mountain Bike Ride this Saturday, Village Creek

I think it's time for a new camera....but here's CoCo's new bike!
I'm dying to give it a spin.  We'll see if she wants to ride with
us too but if not, I 'm bringing this Specialized Myka out! :)
And I just realized we've reached a point in our lives that
we can wear the same clothes, same shoes and now same
bicycle....I hope she'll ride with us Saturday, I've got
David's Pro Flex which is great condition just in case!

There's a mountain bike ride slated for this Saturday at 2:30 at Village Creek, meet at the visitor's center parking lot.  Keep in mind that Adam at Village Creek has bikes to rent for you guys that don't have one!! Call him at 238-9406 to make your reservation.  I'm excited that I'll have Chloe's new bike out there, giving it a loop!  Plan on an hour or so ride, it gets dark early so we won't dilly dally.  I'll bring snacks and drinks for post ride social time.  Weather forecast is high of 56 and winds southwest at 9 mph.

We're running a long run at Stan's Sunday at 3 pm for those getting ready for the Little Rock Half.   See ya'll Saturday at the park!  (and I hope everyone's power stays on tonight with all this ice and low temps...I told Chloe I bet school's out for sure tomorrow cause of the buses...we'll see at 6 am!!) Keeli:)

It's the first day of winter and supposed to be the end of the world on 12-21-12 but we're all still kicking!

Here's a logo that Kim White designed as a possibility for a jersey for our club.  I like it and welcome comments or suggestions...let me know what you think!  Keeli

Mountain Bike Ride Saturday the 10th at Village Creek

Hello from Village Creek.

I will be leading a mountain bike ride on Saturday Nov. 10th at 3:30 p.m. We will meet at the Visitor Center Parking lot and will ride for an hour or two depending on what the group wants.

Also in case any of the roadies out there are wanting to try mountain biking, but do not have a bike we now have three brand new Specialized Hardrock rental bikes.

This is the small. Perfect for the teen who is ready for a little adventure, or short adult!

This is the large. It has some purple highlights to it, which of course is the color of royalty.

This is the XL don't let it's size fool you, this thing will fly down the trail.

I have personally tested all three of these bikes and they are going to be a blast on the trail. So now you have no excuse to miss tomorrows ride. See you there.
